Our Mission

Seattle World School (formerly Secondary Bilingual Orientation Center, SBOC) is Seattle Public Schools’ culturally diverse newcomer school dedicated to supporting newcomer students in an orientation setting and ELL High School students studying towards graduation.

                                      High School

In the high school program, students with greater needs have two period LA and math blocks. Students who are more proficient take single period classes in their core subjects of LA, math, science, history along with their electives. There are daily grade level advisory periods in which students receive academic support with their    studies and projects, and plan for high school graduation and beyond. Click on the

                                Newcomer Program

In the newcomer program, students have six classes a day: a two period ELD (English Language Development) block, a two period math block, social studies and electives (art, computers, physical education, multimedia or drama). There are daily native language advisory periods in which students receive support with their academic studies. Click on the icon to learn more.
